The veteran hero is without a doubt physically and emotionally damaged, but this is story – set in early 20th century England – the wounded soldier is seeking vengeance, partners up with another man on a secret mission, has sex with that guy to preserve his cover, and then has to address some pretty serious questions about his sexuality, while also still trying to complete the secret mission and stay alive. Think of England is not that kind of story. Quite often, a troubled soldier finds a nice woman in his small hometown who heals him by loving him all the more for his visible AND invisible scars. ![]() ![]() There’s a fondness in romance for military men. ![]()
